Every organization in the Wood Buffalo region serves part of our community. You serve people who have needs, and you do that work through programs, projects and initiatives.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has drafted a Community Safety and Social Well-Being plan that describes the community's needs as it understands them, and the programs and services that exist to meet them. Earlier this year, executive directors across the sector asked that the organizations doing the work be more heavily involved in shaping it. In July, Council directed Administration to work with FuseSocial, United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo, and the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation to do exactly that.
This survey is where we begin. We want to know, from where you sit, what the people you serve need, which programs and projects already exist to meet those needs and have to keep going, and what is missing. You do not need to have read the plan. There is nothing to rate or rank; just tell us what you see.
We are asking everyone: board members, executive directors, directors and managers, front-line and other staff, and volunteers. Please answer from your own role and experience.
Then do one more thing before you move on: send this survey link to others in your organization, especially front-line staff and volunteers. Leaders are the people most likely to receive this link, but the people closest to those you serve are the ones we most need to hear from, and they will only see the survey if you pass it on.
It takes about eight minutes, or about thirteen if you lead an organization or a program. Individual responses are confidential and results are reported in aggregate; we will list the organizations that contributed, not the people. The survey closes Monday, October 5. What we hear will be presented at a regional working session on Thursday, October 15, and will go to Administration and Council in December as the sector's input to the plan.
