Sunset Vista Park Survey |
The conceptual (Sunset) Vista Park is a proposed public space that is located on the west side of Buena Vista in the Sunset Vista IV (the neighborhood between Grouse Road and Raven Way and west of Larissa Lane). For several years, Buena Vista has been working with our community to fine-tune potential park designs to fulfill the growing needs of our town. Not only for residents in this quadrant of BV but also to serve our entire population.
The Sunset Vista area in Buena Vista is a fast-growing part of our community. The nearest park (McPhelemy Park) is 1.5 miles away from this proposed public park. In addition to the sheer distance, the walkability/bike-ability (especially for kids) is a real challenge. The roadways are very congested with traffic and the paths are limited and pose multiple safety challenges as well. These realities make Vista Park a much-needed space to relax and recreate for many local and regional residents.
In both 2017 and 2019, the Town applied for GOCO (Great Outdoors Colorado) Grants to fund the construction of this park project. We came up just short of qualifying each time around. We have an opportunity to go back to GOCO and other funding organizations in the future to help make this concept a reality. These grants are highly competitive and the best way to strengthen our applications is to demonstrate community involvement and input. Your feedback on this survey will be greatly appreciated to help us rethink what will be the best approach to making this park a reality sooner than later.
