We’re interested in how hair removal such as (shaving or clipping) was handled as part of your surgical experience, and how you felt about it. We’d also like your opinion on a potential alternative approach.

.What is your age?
.What type of surgery did you have?
.Were you informed in advance that hair in the surgical area might be removed?
.Were you asked or advised to remove hair yourself before coming into hospital?
.To your knowledge, was hair removed (e.g. shaved or clipped) in the area where your surgery took place?
.If hair was removed, did you experience any of the following afterwards? (Tick all that apply)
.Before your surgery, were you already in the habit of removing hair(e.g. shaving or waxing) from the groin, abdominal or perianal area as part of your normal grooming routine?
.Do you have any thoughts or feelings about hair removal being part of surgical preparation?
.What is your gender?
.Some patients have suggested that waxing before surgery could be a more comfortable and hygienic option than shaving, with slower regrowth and less irritation.

One idea is that patients could be offered the option to attend a short appointment with a trained professional for waxing in the week before surgery. How likely are you to take up this opportunity if offered?
