WAS Covid-19 Protocol Input Survey

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has rescinded the quarantine order that Waldron Area Schools has been following. Here is what that means: Waldron Area Schools is not legally mandated to do contact tracing and quarantines when a student or staff member tests positive for Covid 19 and there have been close contacts. Our Waldron Area Schools’ Board of Education and administration would like input from our community members as we move forward. Please complete the following short survey:

Even though we are not legally mandated to do so, as a parent and/or community member, I would like to see Waldron Area Schools continue to follow current protocols, including contact tracing and quarantining of students and staff member when a student or staff member tests positive for Covid 19. This would include quarantining students and staff for 10 day periods of possible Covid 19 incubation following close contact to a positive case.

Even though they are not legally mandated to do so, there are districts that are mandating students and staff to wear masks if they have close contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid 19. I would like to see Waldron Area Schools adopt this protocol for their students and staff.

Waldron Area Schools would revert to pre-pandemic (before the Covid 19 pandemic) health protocols with the following exceptions:

a.     A student or staff member who has tested positive for Covid 19 would be quarantined for the 10 day recommended period.
b.    Students or staff who have Covid 19 symptoms would stay away from school or school events.
c.     Students or staff who develop symptoms of Covid 19 during the school day would be sent home.
d.    Waldron Area Schools’ students and staff would have the option to wear a mask or choose not to wear a mask.
