Background

Organized in 1973, the West Austin Neighborhood Group (WANG) is a non-profit organization of neighborhood residents with the shared goal of preserving the character of and quality of life in West Austin. WANG is concerned with community, development, ecology, safety, and many other matters that indirectly and directly affect our neighborhood and the City of Austin.
The Central West Austin Combined Neighborhood Planning Area includes both the Windsor Road Area (Bryker Woods and Pemberton) as well as the West Austin Neighborhood Group Planning Area that includes all of Deep Eddy and Tarrytown.  These are the areas shaded in beige in the map above.  These boundaries align with those of the West Austin Neighborhood Group.  The Planning Area was defined by the City of Austin in 2007 as a precursor to the 3-year planning process in which our neighborhood participated.  The Neighborhood Plan was adopted by the Austin City Council as an Amendment to the Austin Tomorrow Plan on September 23, 2010.
