Introduction

WALGA and Perth NRM have partnered to undertake a survey designed to understand the environmental management and sustainability needs of Local Government Authorities in Western Australia. The target audience for this survey are personnel from Local Government with direct strategic, policy and operational responsibility for environmental management and sustainability, including Elected Members and staff from Directors to Technical Officers.

There is an increasing range of environmental responsibilities that Local Governments are expected to manage.  The information collected aims to identify current and emerging environmental management and sustainability issues within Local Government, and the capacity and funding gaps that may exist.  Identification of these will inform targeted support from WALGA and Perth NRM through policies and programs, collaborative planning and partnerships, events and workshops, and communication and advocacy on behalf of the sector.

There are 139 Local Government Authorities and seven regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups in Western Australia.  The analysis of the survey results will be made available to WALGA, all NRM groups, and the Local Governments that participate.  Individual survey results will be anonymous, with data reported as a summary.

The survey is comprised of 12 questions divided into three sections; environmental issues, resources, and communication and support.  The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Please complete the survey before close of business Friday, 24 November.

Thank you
