RFS PSA MEMBERS AWARD SURVEY

* 1. Preamble

The purpose of this survey is to identify the amendments to the Crown Employees (Rural Fire Service) Award which are desired by membership. Once identified, the PSA will pursue these amendments by negotiation with the RFS. If the PSA is unable to reach agreement with the RFS, the PSA will then seek these amendments in hearing before the Industrial Relations Commission.

Importantly, all awards which are made by the IRC must provide for ‘fair and reasonable’ conditions of employment to both employees and employers. This is the IRC’s primary and fundamental purpose. For this reason, it is important all members exercise restraint when identifying improved employment conditions.

Remember, the PSA is the employee representative. The RFS cannot and does not represent the interests of employees. Only PSA members can have say on the employment conditions of RFS employees.
