Learning objectives:
After participating in this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify and Review anesthetic options for intravenous sedation (pharmacology, safety profile, cost).
- Identify and Explain the features of a complex patient for intravenous sedation (AW, comorbidities, IV access, anxiety, social habits).
- Describe the management of common complications that arise during administration of intravenous sedation (paradoxic agitation, lost IV, bronchospasm, obstruction, desaturation, inadequate depth of sedation, aspiration, decision to convert to GA).
