This is a confidential, independent survey to measure the market/community reaction to such a service. Your individual answers will not be shared (we're not asking for your name or contact details). The survey will take you three minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your time.

So what is proposed?
Sounds Air is proposing a scheduled service which would provide a direct link between Christchurch and Wanaka airports, with up to 15 return flights a week and flights every day (up to 3 per day). Flying time will be approximately 45 minutes, and fares will range from $169 to $279 each way.  Booking will be via Sounds Air's website or 0800 phone line.

The Christchurch to Wanaka sector will be operated in their Pilatus PC12 9 seater, pressurised aircraft.  These planes cruise at up to 30 thousand feet with nine passengers who can bring 20kg of luggage each.

When and how can the flights start?
This service can be up and running within six weeks. No additional infrastructure is required at Wanaka Airport - Sounds Air will use the existing runway, terminal building and local staff. They have aircraft on standby ready to run this service.

Who is Sounds Air?
Sounds Air is a private company which has been operating for over 32 years. Pre-Covid-19 Sounds Air carried 115,000 passengers each year between airports including Wellington, Picton, Nelson, Blenheim, Taupo, Westport, Christchurch and Kapiti. The company currently operates a fleet six Pilatus PC12’s and four Cessna Caravans.
