2021 NEST Pledge |
The Pledge:
As a proud member of the SVSU community, I pledge to do my part to protect the safety of my fellow Cardinals. To address the COVID-19 pandemic, I understand that it is my responsibility to take actions that will support the guidelines in SVSU’s New Expectations for a Safer Tomorrow (NEST) Plan.
I pledge to prioritize the health and well-being of my entire Cardinal family and am dedicated to keeping my campus safe.
I understand that I can do so by taking personal responsibility, following health and safety procedures and abiding by SVSU’s “Practice 5.” I will remain vigilant and continue to stay up-to-date on the NEST Plan by regularly visiting the website at www.svsu.edu/nestplan.
As a Cardinal community, there is no challenge we can’t face or obstacle we can’t overcome. It is up to us to look out for one another and do our best to foster a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all.
That is why I pledge to “Practice 5” and do the following:
Complete a Daily Health Self-Screening: Each day before I leave my home or residence hall, I will perform a self health screening via the CampusClear app (available Aug. 10) and will not come to campus if I fail my health screening.

Wear Masks/Face Coverings: With the exception of my residential suite, I will wear a face covering inside all buildings on campus in alignment with SVSU’s face covering policy.
Practice Physical/Social Distancing: I will maintain a distance of at least six feet between myself and others, both indoors and outdoors.
Properly Hand Wash/Sanitize: I will wash my hands frequently and according to proper hand hygiene guidelines.
Be Considerate of Others: As a member of the SVSU community, I will remember that we share responsibility for keeping each other healthy. I will follow these practices, assist with classroom sanitation as requested and be kind to my fellow Cardinals.
I understand that failure to properly wear a face covering or abide by SVSU’s safety policies may result in a Student Code of Conduct violation. If I see fellow Cardinals not following the outlined requirements, I will do my part to kindly educate and encourage adherence to our safety protocols to keep our community safe.
I take the NEST Pledge to do my part as a responsible Cardinal to help protect the SVSU community.
