NWEG Writer Mentor Program 2021

A program designed to assist emerging writers in publishing their first paid writing project by pairing them with professional editors as mentors. Participants will be published and paid $400 upon successful completion of an original article of approximately 800 to 1100 words. This collaboration between Northwest Editors Guild and Crosscut will focus on essays relevant to life in the Pacific Northwest. We are accepting applications to the program until September 30th.

Follow this format: 1. Title [two to six words]: Description [two to four sentences].

For example: "Surgery and the Pandemic:" In this essay, I present my recent experience with surgery at Harborview Hospital in Seattle during the COVID pandemic. My relationship with my family, friends, and my own body changes as I undergo surgery in a hospital struggling to manage an influx of COVID patients. I discuss infection rates and hospital policy response while touching also on the personal side, such as recovery in quarantine.
