Connect with Nature is talking with communities of color, immigrant communities and people living with disabilities about nature. We want to learn how we can make nature parks more welcoming and meaningful to all communities.

Connect with Nature partners APANO, ESA, IRCO, Metro, Multicultural Collaborative, NAYA, and Verde are working together on the project. Community partners, Center for Diversity and the Environment Coalition of Communities of Color, FACTOregon and Self Enhancement Inc., are advisors on the project.

The project will help us plan access at two natural areas - Gabbert Butte in Gresham, and East Council Creek, in Cornelius - and will help to develop general recommendations for natural areas in other places in the greater Portland metropolitan area. The first workshop was held at Metro, on October 22, and focused on participants’ experiences with nature and their preferences about being outside.

The survey on the following pages reflects the activities and topics that were discussed at Workshop 1.
