Thank you for taking the time to complete our apprentice Industry survey, currently a national hairdressing apprenticeship is in development. This industry-led apprenticeship is being developed by a consortia steering group of industry bodies in-conjunction with the educational providers,

Which includes the following groups;

· Hairdressing Council of Ireland
· Irish Hairdressers Federation
· Synergy Hair Group
· Image Skillnet
· Peter Mark (Large company representative)
· Wayne Lloyd (Medium company representative)
· Catherine Cusack (Small company representative)
· Limerick & Clare Education and Training Board (Co-ordinating provider)
· 15 collaborating Educational Training Boards Nationally.

This is a flagship moment in our industry, for the first time Ireland will have an apprenticeship that is mapped to the national framework of qualifications which is important for many reasons;

· An excellent standard of education will be delivered,
· The apprenticeship will create a national standard that represents the highest quality,
· The apprenticeship will help sustain a highly skilled work force,
· Qualifications will be recognized both nationally and internationally.

The program that is in development will be a:
-QQI Level 6 in professional hairdressing,
-One day per week will be spent off the job with the education providers while you will continue to learn while on the job while you work in your salon,
-The apprenticeship will be delivered over a period of three years.
