As a community hub, we value the input of our community.

Thank you for taking time to take this short survey.  We need your thoughts on next steps for our facility!

You may not be aware that in addition to running a full service repair shop and bicycle sales center, the ReCyclery provides programming and education for cyclists and their families.  If you would like to know more about what we do before taking the survey, please take a look at our 2019 Annual Report.

Our existing building and infrastructure has served us reasonably well for about ten years.  However, we have never had running water, bathroom facilities, or a clean space to eat lunch at the shop.  And for those of you who have come to the shop in the winter, you know that we work in a mostly unheated space exposed to all of the elements.  Now, with COVID 19, we want to continue to offer community shop days, educational programs, and workshops, but we are finding that we are unable to offer programs in a safe environment.

This survey is to gather some input from our customers and members about next steps.

Please rank each of the following on a scale of 1 (not vital to our community) to 5 (very vital to our community).

Not vital to our community Somewhat vital to our community Indifferent to the service Vital to our community Very vital to our community
Have used the services of our repair shop
Have purchased a new or refurbished bike
Have attended an evening seminar, lecture, or salon
Have taken one of our bike mechanic courses

Question Title

* 4. With COVID 19, we will have to invest in our infrastructure to continue to offer all of our services to the community. For example, we have no running water or sewer line at the ReCyclery. And, our space is not configured in a way that allows safe access to the shop by our customers. Each of the additions described below will require planning, and a commitment of energy and resources to accomplish. Please rank each of the following as:

Too big of a project at this time. Not essential to services provided. I can't support this move. Somewhat important, but now isn't the right time. Best to sacrifice programming and education. Very important. Now is a good time to move forward. I support this move.  I don't have an opinion on this matter.
Lay in a water and sewer line from Garfield Street, and construct a bathroom on site for staff and customers. This option will not help us with programming, but it will allow our staff and customers a safer and healthy place to work and shop.
Keep the existing footprint of the ReCyclery, but reconfigure the space to make it more safe, healthy and protected by framing walls, and extending roof lines over the area.  This option will allow us to safely bring a significant amount of programming and education, and may alleviate some storage concerns. It will also protect customers and staff from the winter elements while working and shopping. This option also includes water, sewer and bathrooms.
Expand the existing building footprint to include more space for storage, programming and education.  This option offers a healthy and safe environment, and will  provide us with room to grow in the future.

Question Title

* 5. Do you have any additional comments at this time about the ReCyclery, our building, or educational programming?
