About this survey

Washington is eligible to receive $112.7 from the Volkswagen settlement for violating the federal Clean Air Act.

States and tribes are required to develop plans that show how the funds will be used. The money can be used in a variety of ways to reduce pollution from diesel vehicles and equipment. Eligible vehicle and equipment categories are identified in the settlement. Plans must meet the legal requirements for how the money can be used. Plans also must consider reducing pollution in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by emissions.

Ecology is developing the plan for Washington and is asking the public, tribes, local governments, state agencies, the business community, and public interest groups to weigh in on which of the eligible vehicle and equipment categories they think the state should invest in.

The following categories represent different areas that the state can consider for investing the Volkswagen settlement funds. Please rate these categories from 1 (extremely low importance) to 7 (extremely high importance) based on how strongly you feel the state should prioritize funds into categories, if at all. If you are unfamiliar with a particular category you may leave it blank.
