Volunteer Recognition Award Categories

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. believes in recognizing volunteers who exemplify our core values of compassion, integrity, respect, leadership and teamwork. Each year, we invite staff and volunteers to nominate inspiring volunteers for annual award recognition.
 
The 2018 Annual Volunteer Awards open for nominations on the first day of National Volunteer Week, April 16, and remain open until 5 p.m. on May 31, 2018.

AWARD OF HOPE, inspired by Mike Crowe
Volunteers in this category are living with dementia and have demonstrated courage, leadership and support for others, as well as having acted as a role model while raising awareness.
 
Inspired by Mike Crowe, the 1998 Alzheimer Awareness Month spokesperson and a model of courage as he "went public" in order to share his experience as a person living with dementia. More detail about Mike Crowe and the Award of Hope is available later on this nomination form.
 
AWARD OF MERIT, inspired by Twigg White
Volunteers in this category are chosen for their demonstrated commitment to the cause, empathy towards the needs of caregivers and their sense of humour in the face of obstacles.

AWARD OF COMMUNITY SERVICE, inspired by Lola Turik
Volunteers in this category have demonstrated community leadership through their volunteer work at the grassroots level in rural or small municipalities. 
 
Inspired by Lola Turik, who taught school at all levels, raised a family and volunteered with numerous charitable and sports organizations including the Alzheimer Society of B.C. More detail about Lola Turik and the Award of Community Service is available later on this nomination form.

AWARD OF LEADERSHIP, inspired by Clyde & Lanny Slade
Volunteers in this category are agents of long-term change who have demonstrated strong leadership and vision.
 
Inspired by Clyde and Lanny Slade, whose leadership and long-term volunteer work inspired many. More detail about Clyde and Lanny Slade and the Leadership Award is available later on this nomination form.
