City of Vaughan Urban Water Plan PIC2 Survey

The City of Vaughan is undertaking a comprehensive study of its urban water infrastructure, including water, wastewater and stormwater systems, with the purpose of supporting growth while ensuring environmental sustainability and resiliency.

This PIC presents the alternative servicing options, evaluation criteria, and preferred servicing solutions for the water, wastewater and stormwater needs to accommodate growth.  If you have not already done so, please take a moment to review the online materials at https://urbanwaterplan.ca before proceeding with the survey.

Your feedback is important and will be considered in the finalization of preferred servicing solutions for the study.  The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.  Please email the project team at urbanwaterplan@vaughan.ca with any further comments or questions. Thank you.

Question Title

* 1. The Problem and Opportunity statement is as follows: To establish a preferred integrated servicing plan for the City’s water, wastewater and stormwater systems that meets current needs and supports growth while emphasizing environmental sustainability and resiliency.

Do you understand the Problem and Opportunity statement as written (Please check one of the following)

Question Title

* 2. Alternative solutions were considered. These are servicing alternatives that provide guidance as to the most preferred solution or combination of solutions that will support the Problem and Opportunity Statement.  These include:

Alternative 1 - The Do Nothing Alternative - No changes made to existing systems. This alternative is used as a benchmark for comparing other alternatives.

Alternative 2 - Limit Growth to what our existing systems can service (The City would be in conflict with regional and provincially mandated growth plans).

Alternative 3 - Conservation and Environmental Enhancement - reducing demand through innovative, efficient and alternate methods to reduce the need for further infrastructure.

Alternative 4 - Expand/Add New infrastructure to address capacity constraints that remain in the system after all other options are considered.

Please provide any comments you may have about these alternatives.

Question Title

* 3. The following criteria were used to evaluate the alternative servicing  solutions:

1. Technical Merit
2. Impact on the Natural Environment
3. Socio-Economic Impact
4. Financial Impact

Please provide any comments you may have on the evaluation criteria.

Question Title

* 4. Alternative 4 is the preferred solution. It includes Alternative 3: Conservation and Environmental Enhancement - reducing demand through innovative, efficient and alternate methods to reduce the need for further infrastructure.

Alternative 4 consists of:

1. Water distribution system upgrades and/or additions/extensions required in support of future growth and servicing needs.

2. Sanitary system upgrades and/or additions/extensions required in support of future growth and servicing needs.

3. Stormwater system upgrade and/or additions/extensions required in support of future growth and servicing needs.

Please provide any comments you may have on the preferred city-wide solutions.

Question Title

* 5. Servicing Strategy Reports were developed for twelve areas within the city (secondary plan and intensification areas).  Each of these areas has been identified for future growth and intensification. The online PIC materials include a description and proposed servicing maps for each area for water supply, wastewater and stormwater.  Please provide any comments you may have for any of the areas that are shown below.
