Valley Plan 2030- Neighborhood Quality of Life
Your ideas will shape the future of the Valley.
During times of uncertainty, we must come together to build a thriving, resilient community. Change is coming to the Valley Neighborhood in Orange and West Orange. What will that change look like, who is bringing this change, and who will benefit? Your ideas can help shape the Valley’s future. Housing and Neighborhood Development Services (HANDS) has been working to improve the Valley for decades. We plan to attract up to $10 million in strategic investment over the next 10 years, but we need your thoughts and ideas.
What’s the next chapter for the Valley? A vision for 2030
Picture a thriving neighborhood where all people regardless of income or social status can enjoy a good and healthy quality of life – a nice place to raise a family, housing that is safe, accessible and affordable, attractive parks, good schools, active recreation, nearby shopping, local services, arts and culture, youth sports and activities, festivals and celebrations. Places to learn, work, have fun, make a living, own a business. A neighborhood that’s friendly, walkable, safe, convenient, with nice public spaces.
Imagine a place where people of all incomes and backgrounds flourish. A place that is proud to create inspiration and opportunity for all people including the most vulnerable residents. Where people work together for the benefit of all and that celebrates its working-class history of manufacturing. A place where working people can afford to buy a home. Envision an engaged community that determines its own future. And a place where everyone feels that they belong – that the Valley is their neighborhood. A good place to be, to raise a family, to start a business, to succeed.
