Question Title

* 1. Concord Middle School is exploring the option of offering tackle football in the fall of 2019 for our 7th & 8th-grade students. Football could provide our students with a high-quality and inclusive activity that is focused on teaching the fundamentals of the game with a focus on safety and skill development. Additional goals include fostering the life skills of communication, cooperation, and teamwork and to have FUN while participating.

We anticipate the season to last approximately 10 weeks, starting in early September and ending in early November, with a 6 to 8 game schedule played on Wednesday afternoons. Practices would be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school. Students will be able to take the late bus home, including our late bus for Boston students. Bus transportation will be provided to and from away games.

All equipment would be provided: (Helmet, shoulder pads, pants with thigh & knee pads, practice uniform, and game uniform). Players will provide their own cleats.

Coaches will focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game to ensure that students learn proper techniques. Coaches will emphasize rules and strategies of the game so all are aware of game situations and their specific roles on the field. All staff will be properly certified (first aid, CPR, Concussion Awareness).

Our next step in the process of evaluating this option is to record how many students would be interested in participating on a middle school football team.

Please answer the question below.

Would your child participate on a middle school football team, based on the information above?
