SNAP (formerly known as the food stamp program) is critical in helping families stay out of poverty, while benefiting our local economy. With the majority of recipients being children and the elderly, SNAP is vital in allowing families to purchase the foods necessary to keep them healthy. However, misinformation about the program and limited access to application assistance keeps many in our community from receiving SNAP benefits. Please join St. Mary’s Food Bank and the SNAP Outreach Services team for a partner agency training on SNAP. During the training we will go over:
· What does a SNAP Coordinator do?
· SNAP application process: What does a client need and how can they apply?
· What can I expect as an applicant?
· But I need medical help too! Helping with AHCCCS applications and renewals.
· Becoming an access point, have a SNAP Outreach Coordinator visit your agency.
· Becoming an anchor site, have a coordinator train your staff to assist with the guest application process.
