This event is a volunteer planting event, where volunteers will connect with other members of their community to help plant native vegetation along a stretch of Foster Creek just outside of Bridgeport, near where the stream connects to the Columbia River. In-stream restoration was completed in September 2025 here, and now this reach is ready for the next phase of restoration efforts to improve dry-season surface flow, enhance water quality, and create better habitat for wildlife. All volunteer help will be crucial for restoring this habitat, regardless of prior experience or knowledge!
We will be meeting at the Chief Joseph Dam Orientation Area & Recreation Area in Bridgeport at 9:00 AM, where we'll collect people's printed waiver forms and shuttle them via truck to the actual site just 2 miles out of town. You can print off a waiver yourself to bring to the event here: Volunteer Waiver.pdf.
We will be providing food and water for this event, but we always recommend that volunteers bring some of their own as well. Dress for the weather and outdoor work, including rubber or rain boots if you have them. We're working right by the side of the water, so expect to get a little mud on you!
