Exploring Veterans' Attitudes to Personalised Medicine in Mental Illness

What is the purpose of the project?
This study hopes to explore and understand the attitudes that military veterans have towards personalised medicine, specifically in mental health.

Why have I been invited to take part?
You have been invited to take part because you: (i) are aged 18 years or over; (ii) are fluent in speaking and reading in English; (iii) are an Armed Forces veteran; (iv) have experienced a mental health difficulty (either currently or in the past); and (v) have sufficient IT skill to engage with online surveys and email.
Do I have to take part?
Your involvement is voluntary. You do not need to take part in this survey and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. Even if you provide consent before starting it, you are free to withdraw from the survey with no reason at any point in time. You can withdraw by simply not filling in the survey or stopping at any point.
What is involved?
By clicking on the link below you will be directed to a survey hosted by SurveyMonkey. You will be asked to confirm that you consent to taking part in the survey. After this, you be asked some details about you and your military service. Finally, you will be asked to respond to the survey questions themselves. Once you have finished the survey, your involvement in the study is complete.

Will anyone know I have taken part and how will my data be stored?
If you fill in the survey, your responses will remain confidential and stored on a safe database, to which only the research team will have access. Your responses will be assigned to a random ID number. Your data will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection (GDPR). Security of data storage and access will be overseen by Dr Victoria Williamson (postal address: Psychology Department, University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath BA2 7AY). The data collected in this study will be kept for a period of 10 years following the completion of the study. After this, all data will be destroyed.
