Public consultation: SSCI minimum requirements for Regenerative Agriculture certifications

Welcome to SSCI's public consultation on Regenerative Agriculture certifications

The Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI), in partnership with Peterson Solutions, is seeking public feedback on 8 draft minimum criteria for voluntary standards making regenerative agriculture claims.

Purpose: help us refine these proposed criteria to ensure they establish a credible baseline for soil health, outcome monitoring, and farmer livelihoods across global supply chains.

Methodology: these draft requirements reflect an extensive evidence-gathering process to map common industry features and operational gaps:
- Landscape review: we benchmarked 12 voluntary standards and leading corporate in-house programmes
- Stakeholder consultation: we conducted 16 in-depth interviews across retail, CPG manufacturing, biotech, academia, advocacy groups, and standard owners, and analysed 29 initial survey responses.
- SSCI alignment: we cross-referenced findings against the existing SSCI Environmental Benchmark to synthesise these 8 minimum criteria.

Reference document: you can download and review the full SSCI Regenerative Agriculture Draft Report (PDF) for complete rationale, methodology, and detailed criterion descriptions.

Format & duration: this survey takes 12–15 minutes. You will be asked to rate and comment on the proposed criterion and answer a few overarching questions on implementation.

Your impact: responses will directly shape the final criteria set and determine how SSCI integrates regenerative agriculture into its benchmark.

The consultation closes on 28 October midnight CET. All responses will be analysed in aggregate.
