Did Robert Johnson sell his soul to the Devil? Likely not, but the myths and mythology about the most famous of the Mississippi Delta bluesman only increase with time. Among the known facts about Robert Johnson is this: he recorded the bulk of his 29-song canon in San Antonio, Texas with producer Don Law in November, 1936. But was it in Room 414 at the Gunter Hotel? Was it even at the Gunter? Why is there a day’s gap in the recording schedule? Who else was recording? Where did Robert Johnson stay while he was in San Antonio and did he record elsewhere while in town?

Join music journalist and founder of the South Texas Museum of Popular Culture Margaret Moser on the “Robert Johnson in San Antonio 1936” walking tour for discussion of these topics and more!
