CSI schools must report to the Institute its hiring plan for all special education teachers and related service providers including but not limited to school nurses, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapaists who will be employed for the following year. No later than the first day of the opening of school, all special education teachers and related providers must be hired, appropriately qualified, and available to serve the identified needs of the students. Schools that do not have special education staff employed or on record at the start of school, or have resignations that occur during the year, must notify the Charter School Institute Director of Special Education within 5 business days of the vacancy by submitting the action plan below. The plan must include specific details of intent to hire along with an interim plan to include any remediation efforts such as compensatory services to serve both the systemic needs of the school and special education students.
