The Cemetery Authority is requesting that our friends weigh in on the topic of wanted burial options at the cemetery. As burial spaces will eventually be sold out, we need other options in order to meet the needs of our city residents.
Please let us know if you or your family or friends would ever be interested in purchasing or using a columbarium available for cremation urns. A columbarium is a structure with niches (openings) for holding containers of ashes with the name and information of the deceased inscribed on a plate on the front. (See example photo above.) If not, would anyone be interested in a landscaped park-like grassy area for the scattering of ashes with or without engraved plaques or bricks marking the area?
Columbarium niche methods and landscaped scattering grounds are much less expensive than burials, and by using these methods for the disposition of ashes, there is no need for the purchase of vaults, caskets and expensive burial site preparation.
