LENS Project Application (closing date 3/15)

Below you will find the application for the Organization for Prostitution Survivors LENS Pilot program. This program is designed to give survivors of commercial sexual exploitation a foundation understanding of how to be an effective advocate for victims and survivors rights. This program will focus on creating social change through community education. This is not a program that will teach survivors how to negotiate speaking contracts or to sell their stories. This program is designed to give survivors valuable tools to present, write and advocate on the local, national and global stage for gender equality and against gender based violence.

The program will consist of 12 webinars (1 1/2 - 2 hours long) with accompanying readings, writing assignments, and discussion. The webinars will be held twice a month for 6 months (April - September) and will cover topics ranging from op-ed writing to conflict resolution. We are opening this pilot program to a total of 12 survivors who are currently working in or are interested in working in advocacy.

We are accepting applications through March 15th and will send out acceptance packets March 31st via email. We have limited the number of seats in this program to allow for maximum discussion time and learning to take place and therefore we may not be able to accept everyone who applies.

Since this is a pilot course the facilitators will be engaged in the learning process along with the participants, your feedback in the form of evaluations and active engagement in the course will help us develop the final program. To thank you for your assistance in the creation of this program we are offering a stipend in the form of a $120 Visa gift card to each of the 12 participants upon completion of the program.

If you have any questions about the program I encourage you to check out the Organization for Prostitution Survivors website for more information. If you have any specific questions regarding the application or program please send your emails to alisa.bernard@seattleops.org
