2027 NBC Perfect Pitch Competition: A Whole New Ballgame

Three Projects, Three Pitchers, Three Home Runs!

It’s the bottom of the ninth, and the bases are loaded! Are you ready to step up to the mound, deliver the perfect pitch, and take home the win? The federal funding landscape is changing, and it’s starting to feel hot under those stadium lights as you throw pitch after pitch to move your brownfield project forward. The 2027 Perfect Pitch Competition at the National Brownfields Training Conference (Brownfields 2027) in Salt Lake City, Utah is your chance to throw a perfect strike and transform your environmentally impaired or underutilized property into a thriving asset for your community.

EPA’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields (TAB) providers will select three submissions this application season to pitch onstage at Brownfields 2027. All three Pitchers will present their project details, goals, and needs to three Catchers (redevelopment experts), who will provide invaluable feedback on their projects’ next steps. Each Pitcher will win one of three tailored technical assistance packages designed to help overcome obstacles and move their brownfield project forward. By stepping up to the mound at Brownfields 2027, Pitchers will build capacity through technical assistance, generate awareness of their projects, and connect with investors, developers, and resources to accelerate their redevelopment timelines.

Whether your property is in the early stages of redevelopment or ready for a developer to step in, the Perfect Pitch Competition will help you gain a deeper understanding of how to help your property go all the way. Complete this application to get in the lineup for this year’s competition, and let’s work together to clean up, build up, and hit our brownfield properties out of the park!

Applications are due November 30, 2026, by 11:59 p.m. PST. Selections will be made and notices emailed by mid-January 2027.
