The Career Development Institute is considering creating a new booklet in the popular Better Practice series, first published in 2000 and revised in 2008. The answers that you provide through this short questionnaire will help us to decide whether there is a demand for a new booklet.

Rationale for a new edition
The education systems across the home nations are facing ever rising expectations about how they prepare young people for their next steps in education, training and work. There is new statutory guidance in England; changes happening in Wales; the Wood Commission Report in Scotland and a review currently taking place in NI.

There are a growing number of players involved in offering careers services to schools and colleges. There is a wealth of reports and research identifying areas for development in current provision. This places new demands on career development practitioners to help young people develop the career management, enterprise and employability skills that will enable them to choose and create satisfying working lives for themselves. It is, therefore, timely for the Career Development Institute (CDI), the UK-wide professional body for the sector, to produce a third volume of Better Practice that focuses on effective careers teaching and provides practitioners with a practical and comprehensive resource that will help them in their role.
