Building a Great Life Conference Call for Presenters Application Form

The Building a Great Life Conference Planning Committee is pleased to present our Biennial Conference at the Red Lion Hotel Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road,  Cromwell, CT on Tuesday April 7, 2020.   We invite families, advocates, providers and agencies from various fields and organizations throughout the state to submit a presenter application on the topics related to building a great life for everyone in our communities, including those with the most significant disabilities

We are committed to featuring experienced, well informed and diverse presenters in every topic offered at the conference. Presentations can include individual presenters, panel presentations by several speakers, or a forum/discussion format.  It is only limited by your creativity.  Our desire is for all conference participants to leave this event with ideas, tools and resources to foster great lives for all our CT citizens with disabilities and their families. 

PLEASE NOTE: Presentations at conference sessions is on a completely voluntary basis. Presenters will not receive compensation of any kind and are responsible for all costs related to their presentations, including (but not limited to) cost of travel, lodging, food, and presentation materials.  There will be no conference registration fee for anyone attending or presenting at this conference.

2020 CONFERENCE THEME
“All Means All:  Building a Great Life for Everyone in Our Communities”, with particular emphasis on programs and practices across the life course that promote good lives in the community for all individuals including those with the most significant disabilities. These topics include but are not limited to:

  • On-Demand Transportation or Other Transportation Solutions

  • Sessions by/for Self-Advocacy Organizations such as:  People First, KASA, PWCL, Cross-Disability Alliance

Applications are due by January 15, 2020
Selected presenters will be notified by January 31, 2020.
  • Once proposals have been reviewed, email notification will be sent to the LEAD PRESENTER ONLY by January 31, 2020.  Only electronic submissions will be accepted.

    GUIDELINES
    Plan for a one hour workshop presentation.  
    The Conference Planning Committee will give priority to presentations that include people with disabilities and/or parents of individuals with disabilities as presenters or co-presenters.

Please provide a title for your presentation.  Titles should be concise and intriguing.  Attendees will choose from up to five (5) other session titles per time block.  The committee reserves the right to re-title sessions.

Please provide a session description of no more than 60 words.  This will be printed in the program.  This is your marketing material for your session.  Sessions can include an individual presenter, a panel of presenters or a public form/discussion on a topic.  

Sample format:
  Describe the problem or challenge, state your solution, describe the activities in your presentation that will result in the learning outcomes. Describe how your session is going to help people with disabilities and their families build a great life.  Indicate if  you are showing a video, using a PowerPoint or other activity.  We reserve the right to edit the format.
