OSA Educational Need Survey

The purpose of this brief survey is to better understand current clinical practices, perceived challenges, and educational needs related to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) care in primary care settings. The information collected will be used in aggregate to identify practice gaps, explore underlying barriers, and inform the development of future educational initiatives designed to support nurse practitioners in improving OSA-related patient care.

Participation is voluntary, responses will be kept confidential, and no individual responses will be identified or reported. The survey should take approximately 3 minutes to complete.
1.How often do you routinely ask adult patients about sleep health during primary care visits?
2.When discussing sleep with patients, which aspects do you most commonly assess? (Select all that apply)
3.How confident are you in recognizing diverse clinical presentations of OSA (e.g., beyond snoring and obesity)?
4.How confident are you in identifying patients at elevated risk for OSA-related complications (e.g., cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, mortality)?
5.To what extent do you agree with the following statements:

“Perceived stigma or anticipated patient resistance influences my willingness to diagnose or discuss OSA treatment.”
6.How familiar are you with current diagnostic pathways for OSA, including home sleep apnea testing (HSAT)?
7.How confident are you in your ability to order HSAT appropriately for patients with suspected OSA?
8.How confident are you in interpreting HSAT results and determining next steps (e.g., retesting, referral, treatment initiation)?
9.How often do system-level barriers (e.g., limited access to sleep specialists, long wait times) delay OSA diagnosis or referral in your practice?
10.How comfortable are you discussing OSA treatment options with patients, including PAP therapy and alternatives?
11.How confident are you in initiating weight management discussions with patients who have or are at risk for OSA?
