Life Sciences Day at Cradles to Crayons
It’s More Than a Cause, It’s a Kid
Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. Cradles to Crayons supplies these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities.
Their vision is that one day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued.
Local children are especially in need of warm clothing and accessories for winter. Cradles to Crayons estimates the need for 25,000 children’s coats this year. The items that are needed most may be unused items in your children’s closets. You can help local kids by donating these items – including clothing, shoes, and books – and organize your closets in the process!
The opportunity:
Life Science Cares is joining with Cradles to Crayons on Friday October 30 to hold a Life Science Day in both Philadelphia and Boston in order to bring our collective effort model to support the needs of children in both geographic locations.
Life Sciences Day in Philadelphia will include several components which you or your organization can join:
in person volunteering: the Giving Factory warehouse is now open for small teams (15 people or less - down from up to 100 people) and has COVID procedures in place
"Clean out your closets”: C2C is accepting donations of gently used children’s clothing, coats, shoes, boots and books - we need to identify "drop off" points as the traditional "in office drive" model does not work with employees working remotely. Current drop off locations include:
Cradles to Crayons Giving Factory- 4700 Wissahickon Ave. Suite 142 Philadelphia (24/7 contact free)
3675 Market Street Lobby, Philadelphia (one of the University City Science Center buildings) - entire week of October 26 - October 30
Kids Clubhouse of the Mainline (Zippy Shell Drop-Off)- 170 N. Radnor Chester Rd., Wayne
Kiley’s Auto Repair- 620 W. Airy Street, Norristown
616 Foxfields Rd, Bryn Mawr (October 30 only)
Online wish list: employees or companies may purchase new items to be donated to C2C
