We are proposing the following changes to the existing Traffic Regulation Order which limits vehicular access from 11am until 4pm currently:
- No motor vehicles of any kind to access Market Place, Chapel Street, High Street and Sheep Street 11am – 11pm
- Additional Planting and Street Furniture in locations to remove the through route from North Street to Lawrence Sheriff Street (access will be maintained to all properties)
These changes aim to:
- Enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety within this area
- Support the night time economy in order to support businesses
- Support and enhance pedestrian and cyclist movement
- Improve parking management
- Enhance the public realm and aesthetic
- Improve air quality in this area
- Increase climate resilience – more space for greenery and permeable surfaces
