The EBU1 is preparing a study of spectrum use for audio PMSE (Programme Making and Special Events) applications2.
The purpose of the study is to provide quantified factual evidence for audio PMSE spectrum needs to ensure that sufficient amount of spectrum is available in the future. It is essential to inform the preparations for the ITU World Radio Conferences (WRC-27 and WRC-31) where decisions will be made about international spectrum use.
A similar study for Switzerland was conducted in 2021 by the Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). The goal of the new study is to include data from other European countries, and possibly beyond.
How can you help?
This survey seeks to identify potential contributors who would be able to supply data on frequency planning and coordination for audio PMSE at events of any size (e.g. festivals, political events) as well as data on daily use e.g. in broadcast productions or live performance venues such as theatres or concert halls.
The study will consist of two parts, the first part covering the period 2022-2025 and the second part the period 2025-2029. Therefore, at this stage the data should reflect the actual use within the period 2022-2025.
If you are in the position to provide such data please provide your contact details and upload the data files via this online form.
The data will only be used for numerical and statistical analysis and will not be made public. Only the aggregated results will be included in the study report.
