Welcome

Hello.  My name is Jesse Eickholt and I am with the Department of Computer Science at Central Michigan University.  This survey is part of a study to look at how computer science faculty structure their students' classroom experience. This will provide a landscape of currently used teaching styles, satisfaction with existing teaching styles and barriers to change as desired by faculty. The study will also examine how the attitudes and background of faculty relate to teaching style. Taken together, the results of this study could further efforts to continue to support faculty in teaching excellence.

Your participation in this study is voluntary and will consist of a short electronic survey to be completed online. There is no compensation for responding to this survey. It is anticipated that it will take less than 10 minutes to complete the survey and there no known risks to participating in this study.

I appreciate your willingness to help with this project. The data collected will provide useful information regarding how to support faculty and in particular the results of the study could inform institutional policies regarding teaching style. Additionally, the results could improve professional development for computer science and discipline related faculty.  A summary report of the study will be made available at http://mlid.cps.cmich.edu/teaching-styles/summary.pdf once completed.

Your responses will be collected anonymously through this electronic survey and the IP tracking function is turned off. Any data under the investigator’s control will, if disclosed, be presented in a manner that does not reveal the subject’s identity, except as may be required by law.
