Global survey on the management of the preconception phase, pregnancy and delivery in patients with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia |
Introduction
Glanzmann Thrombasthenia (GT) is a rare inherited platelet disorder, characterised by lack of platelet aggregation due to a defect of the αIIbβ3 integrins. Symptoms range from mild to life-threatening bleeding. The stage of preconception can be very challenging for women with GT due to the need to stop hormonal contraceptives in order to conceive. Pregnancy and childbirth are also challenging life events with bleeding risks for mother and child.
The Glanzmann Thrombasthenia Working Group and the Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders Working Group of the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) invite you to fill in this survey about your experience of management of the preconception phase, pregnancy and delivery in women with GT in your clinical practice. We welcome all responses from physicians who have managed or are currently managing women with GT (both physicians who have managed pregnancies and physicians who did not).
This survey consists of questions that are easy to respond to from memory, without consulting clinical practice records.
Thank you very much for supporting this valuable initiative,
The EAHAD Glanzmann Thrombasthenia Working Group and the Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders Working group.
Guidance for completing the survey:
- Please note that all questions are mandatory
- Please consider only the treatment and management of Glanzmann Thrombasthenia specifically, not other bleeding disorders
- The survey will remain open for completion for approximately 6 weeks, until the 15th of March
