Celebrate Farm to Summer Week!

Thank you for participating in the Arizona Department of Education, Health and Nutrition Services' Celebrate Farm to Summer Week Challenge! Sponsors all over the state will be incorporating local products and leveraging school gardens to elevate their Summer Food Service Program during the week of June 11th-15th. Please register with us and let us know what you plan to do to celebrate Arizona's summer fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy, grains and eggs! This challenge is open to all Sponsors of the Summer Food Service Program. We look forward to celebrating with you!

* 3. To participate in the challenge, simply do the following June 11th-15th:

Taste Arizona: Serve a minimum of three local meal components (e.g., grain, dairy, fresh fruits or vegetables, eggs, or meat) during the week of June 11th-15th to encourage your community to eat Arizona grown, fresh and healthy food.

Teach Arizona. Host a minimum of two educational activities during June 11th-15th. Educational activities that educate children about Arizona's rich agriculture scene and vast produce availability can include: taste testing local products; field trips to local farms or farmers markets; Meet the Farmer day; garden-based learning activities; or educational lessons focused on local food and agriculture. You may use one of ADE's resources like Harvest of the Season or use one of your own.

Connect Arizona: Share a minimum of one social media post on Facebook, Instagram or post to your website about your Farm to Summer Celebration(s). using the Hashtag #AZf2S #SummerFreshAZ

ADE will recognize all summer sponsors who complete the challenge and submit the attestation form. The registration form collects information about local meal components served, dollars spent on local meal components, and details about educational opportunities provided. You have the opportunity to complete the registration form now by answering the remaining questions below, including your site's plans to participate during the challenge. You will also have the option of accessing resources to help with planning anytime from the Arizona Farm to School webpage at http://www.azed.gov/hns/azf2s/.

Every site that participates will be recognized at the 2019 Summer Food Summit scheduled for February 2019. Three sites will be selected to receive a Best of the Bunch Award, reflecting the elevation in meals service programming and educational opportunities provided, encouraging children to experience Arizona Agriculture.
