This survey is being administered by Mahihkan Management (Mahihkan) on behalf of the Mental Health and Substance Use Standardization Collaborative and Standards Council Canada. Mahihkan is reaching out to Indigenous representatives, knowledge holders, and mental health and substance use experts to gather information about mental health and substance use services from an Indigenous perspective. The information will be used to support the development of the Mental Health and Substance Use Health Standardization Roadmap and other future work.

What is the Mental Health and Substance Use Standardization Collaborative?

The MHSUH Collaborative was established in 2022 to coordinate mental health and substance use standardization strategies across Canada. The MHSUH Collaborative is not tasked with developing the actual standards. Its role is to enable stakeholders to focus their resources, articulate stakeholders’ needs, propose coordinated standardization activity, and minimize duplication of effort—on matters pertaining to mental health and substance use health services in Canada.

Mental health and substance use health strategies refer to best practices that guide the delivery, integration, and improvement of mental health and substance use services. The MHSUH Roadmap will describe the current and desired state of these services in Canada. The roadmap will also identify gaps, make recommendations to fill the gaps, establish priorities for action, and suggest organizations that will eventually develop the mental health and substance use standards.

What is this survey about?
