Letter to Erie County Legislator — Support the Library!

Fall 2026

Dear Erie County Legislator,

I want to thank you for all the work you have done for our community. I am your constituent and a proud patron of my local library, part of the 37-member Buffalo & Erie County Public Library system. I am writing to encourage you to vote in favor of Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s proposed 2027 budget allocation of Library Real Property Taxes in the amount of $33,475,741.
1.I love my library because it offers services and programs that meet my needs. Libraries are one of the last places where access to knowledge is truly free and belongs to everyone. They are Profoundly Public! I use the Library for:

As an Erie County resident and one of over 412,000 Buffalo & Erie County Public Library cardholders, I believe libraries are among our community’s most valuable assets. I urge you to support the proposed library funding in the 2027 budget.
