The practice’s prior authorizations for medications usually involve brand-name products for which there is no generic equivalent, or a drug that a patient has taken for years but for which the insurance carrier now requires annual reauthorization. Many primary care physicians have offered their input on the challenges to their practice as it relates to the level of time and energy invested in getting approval to treat patients with medications not readily approved by their insurance provider. This survey is meant to understand more about the unique challenges faced by psychiatrists, particularly those who see a number of patients with Medicaid and Medicare.  Please take a few moments to let us know if you are experiencing difficulties with prior authorizations in your practice.  Thanks in advance for taking the survey.
