Guided by our commitment to community, Iowa’s electric cooperative are excited to launch a new online program for high school students in October of 2021. The Iowa Youth Leadership Academy is geared toward high school student with a passion for leadership and promises to open their eyes to how cooperatives impact our daily lives and the opportunities available to them through cooperatives. Students will learn how to advocate for issues important to them and hear from dynamic speakers.
Zoom sessions (45 minutes – 1 hour):
Oct 5 – 7 p.m. > The Cooperative Business Model and Why It Matters
Oct 14 – 7 p.m. > Rural Iowa Advocacy
Oct 26 – 7 p.m. > Civic Involvement/Leadership Opportunities
Students can also look forward to cool swag, awesome prizes, and if they attend all three sessions, they’ll be put in a drawing for a $1,000 college scholarship!
