First-hand Experiences with Cancer Screening Across Europe

The European Cancer Organisation launched ‘Time to Accelerate: for Cancer Screening’, a campaign to tackle the inequalities and gaps in cancer screening across Europe.

This campaign brings together leading national oncology experts and organisations representing the 6 tumour types included in the EU screening recommendations (breast, colorectal, cervical, lung, prostate, gastric) to design a comprehensive survey on cancer screening policies. The insights collected through this survey will enable ECO to document the experience of patients.

For this exercise, we consider human stories to be positive, but also negative, anecdotes that reflect the state of cancer screening implementation across Europe. Stories of interest would include real-life examples of occasions when screening has been performed either well or badly.

This following survey aims to collect narratives of cancer screening participants which reflect how the current practice of performing these screenings can be improved, made more inclusive, effective and efficient. These powerful narratives are essential to understanding the experience of cancer patients from different demographic backgrounds.

This joint survey has been prepared by the European Cancer Organisation together with our partners participating in Workstream 2 of the 'Time to Accelerate: for Cancer Screening' campaign:
