The Town is evaluating ways to improve parking in the downtown area to better support the growing demand for parking. An important part of this evaluation includes consideration of feedback from the public.
This survey is specifically focused on the proposal to make a portion of East Main Street a one-way street. Keep in mind, that there are other ideas under evaluation, that are not part of this survey, such as, but not limited to, the addition of a public parking lot on Jackson Street. The Town will be seeking input on these other possible projects in the future.
The proposal to turn East Main Street into a one-way street includes the area located between Chester Street and Crescent Street. The entry point is proposed in front of the courthouse, with the exit point at the intersection beside the Gazebo. Up to 14 "additional" parking spaces could be added with the change, and all of the parking would be designed as head-in parking.
