Community Local Place Plan Questions |
A group of community members are currently working on developing the Local Place Plan (LPP) for Castle Douglas.
As a group, we are aware that some local people may have not yet heard of LPP's, or know why they matter. LPP's are collaborative and community-led documents that create a community vision for their future. They were introduced by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 and it is the right of the community to produce their own plan, as part of the new Scottish planning system.
LPP's include, amongst other things, suggestions from communities about how land is developed and used within their local area and can describe the types of changes that local people want to see and be taken into account.
This may include things like pinpointing areas where more housing can be built, protecting the town against parking charges and improving our public transport services.
The local team who are compiling the LPP for Castle Douglas are called the 'steering group' and, as a group, we really want as much input as possible from local residents about what matters to them and what they see as the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to Castle Douglas at present, and also in the future. This is why we need your help!
If you could complete the following questions in as much detail as you like, we will use your responses to help develop the LPP for Castle Douglas.
It is your town and we want to know how you feel about it, to help us create a Plan that represents the wishes of local residents.
When our first draft has been completed later in the year, we will then make it accessible for local residents to have a look and provide feedback.
