Self-Assessment of the Middle States Standards for Accreditation

  • There are 12 Standards for Accreditation the school must meet to be granted “Accreditation” by the Middle States Association.

  • The Middle States Standards for Accreditation are rigorous criteria for quality and include holistic and multifaceted descriptors of best practice in the identified area. They define the level of quality required in each area of an institution’s educational programs, operations, and services expected of all accredited institutions. Each Standard is amplified by a set of Indicators of Quality that show possible evidence or ways that a school can demonstrate it meets the Standard for Accreditation. The Indicators of Quality for the Standard identify the types of evidence that, when taken together, indicate whether the school meets the Standard. Meeting the Standard means that the Standard describes the school to an acceptable degree. In this selfassessment survey, rate each Indictor of Quality for each Standard for Accreditation using the following scale:

    1. 1. Does Not Meet: The evidence indicates the school does not meet the expectations of this Indicator
    2. 2. Partially Meets/In Need of Improvement: The evidence indicates that the school is in partial compliance with and in need of improvement in expectations of this Indicator
    3. 3. Meets: The evidence indicates the school meets the expectations of this Indicator
    4. 4. Exceeds: The evidence indicates the school exceeds the expectations of this Indicator

    5. Rate your school's adherence to each Indicator by clicking in the appropriate circle.

    6. If you do not have sufficient knowledge or experience to rate an Indicator, leave it blank. After rating each Indicator, you will be asked to state whether, in your judgment, the school meets the Standard for Accreditation.
