Preamble

INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE

My name is Julie James. I am an Assistant Professor at Ryerson University in the School of Child and Youth Care. Four young trans people are co-leading this study with me. We would like to invite you to take part in our research study, which tries to understand how professionals such as doctors, nurses, school teachers, and social workers can be more supportive and provide better service to trans and gender non-conforming young people.
This information will be made available online at www.transyouthcanada.com, and will be used for public reports, in journal manuscripts, and to help inform service providers.
For the purposes of this study, trans or gender non-conforming refers to people with a range of experiences and identities, including Two-Spirit, non-binary, agender, gender queer, gender non-conforming, gender diverse, gender questioning, transgender, as well as those who identify as men or women and have a history that involves a gender transition.

WHAT YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO DO

You are being asked to voluntarily complete this online survey. It involves questions about best practices and what service providers (such as nurses, doctors, teachers, and social workers) need to better serve young trans and gender non-conforming people. It should take about 15 minutes to complete. In order for all of your answers to be collected, you must go to the end of the survey and click the ‘done’ button. This will demonstrate your full consent to participate.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS

There is no direct benefit to you for taking part in this study. My hope is that the research will help develop practices for professionals that provide better care and service to young trans and gender non-conforming people.

WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL RISKS TO YOU?
Some of the survey questions may make you uncomfortable, may remind you of negative experiences, or you may simply wish not to answer some questions. You are free to decline to answer any questions you do not wish to answer, or to stop participating at any time by closing your browser. If you close your browser before getting to the end of the survey, and do not confirm your consent to participate at the end of the survey by clicking the ‘submit survey’ button, your information collected up to that point will not be used.

Please press the "Next" button below, as well as at the end of each subsequent page, once you have answered as many of that page's questions as you wish to.
