Background

The employee User ID is commonly referred to as the "RACF ID" when it is applied in the RACF facility for granting security access to mainframe applications. The RACF ID is associated with a particular agency and is different from an employee's "OR" number.

User IDs are generated by Oregon state government's current personnel system, PPDB (Position and Personnel Database). This ID is an integral part of security access in many state government areas, from basic employee logon to individual agency shadow systems to enterprise-wide IT applications.

Current User IDs follow a 7-byte alpha-numeric convention where the first three bytes denote an agency acronym followed by two alpha characters and two numeric characters. The User ID auto-generates each time an employee is appointed to a position, and becomes inactive when that appointment is terminated.

Example User ID #1: DASAA00
The first three bytes, "DAS," indicate that this User ID belongs to an employee in the Department of Administrative Services.
Example User ID #2: DASAA01
When the next employee is appointed to a position within the agency, the employee will receive the next auto-generated User ID in succession. In this case, the last two bytes are auto-generated from "00" to "01."

It is imperative that the HRIS Project Team gathers feedback from all areas where User IDs, or RACF IDs, are used. Feedback will be used to identify any areas of concern experienced during implementation of the HRIS solution, which will replace PPDB. Please complete this survey by the end of the day on Friday, June 30. In the spaces provided, please provide clearly labeled, separate survey responses for reach process where User IDs or RACF IDs are used.

We greatly appreciate your time and attention to this critical matter. Your feedback will help ensure minimal impact moving forward with the new HRIS solution.
