Upper Hunter BESS Community Survey The ProjectNorth Harbour Clean Energy Pty Ltd (NHCE) is an Australian company that is proposing to develop the Upper Hunter Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) (the Project). The Project is located approximately 12km north of Muswellbrook on vacant land to the south of Campbell Street in Aberdeen NSW. The Project would involve the construction, operation and decommissioning of a BESS with a capacity of up to 400 MW / 800 MWh. The BESS will assist in matching electricity supply to consumer demand by storing electricity during periods of excess generation or supply for use during periods of high demand. The Project is classified as a State Significant Development (SSD) according to the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. It requires the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement and an application for planning consent from NSW DPHI. The responses to this survey will be used by NHCE to understand the issues that matter most to you and other residents in your community, and to identify what you see as the potential impacts (positive and negative) of the Project. Your responses will also help us to understand and develop appropriate management measures tailored to your concerns or experiences as Project planning progresses, as well as in identifying opportunities where the proposed Project can enhance local benefits.Participation is completely voluntary, so please only complete those questions that you are comfortable in answering. If you prefer, you can respond on an anonymous basis. All information you provide is confidential and will only be used by NHCE for contact purposes if indicated, or in aggregated/deidentified form in analysis and reporting.
