Dear Sir/Madam,

The UWI Open Campus is in the process of developing a Masters/PhD in Child Studies and invites your participation a market survey to determine the relevance and demand for the proposed programme.

The proposed Masters/PhD In Child Studies is intended to be a multidisciplinary programme, which combines expertise from Education, Social Work, Law, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics and Politics. The vision is that this multidisciplinary perspective will enable students to develop a range of contrasting disciplinary and professional perspectives on policy and practice.

The programme will include both taught and research based courses. Specifically, the MPhil and the PhD will have taught components (6 and 9 credits, respectively), with research leading to a thesis in both cases.  Subject matter expertise will be referenced from within and outside of the Caribbean and the programme will be designed to appeal to practitioners as well as potential researchers in the area. It is expected that the Masters/PhD In Child Studies will enhance the provision of gender equitable, market-driven, online learning programme offerings to a broader student base, including those from underserved communities.

This market survey is designed to determine  the specialisations that would be attractive or useful, and financial viability. The results will be used to design a programme that meets market determined needs, using the blended/online format.  Your input is critical. We ask that you use the link the link (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/UWIOC-CHILDSTUDIES) to access and respond to the survey. The survey is brief and should take approximately ten minutes of your time.

We look forward to your participation.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Joy Moncrieffe
Consultant
