Introduction

What is this survey for? The Division of Student Affairs has identified striving for excellence as one of our core values. The environment in which we work is an important aspect of living that value. This survey is designed to understand how well we are doing at creating an environment that engages and inspires our desired culture at the present time. We need you to help us learn about your own experiences, what is working well, and how to improve things going forward. Your candid feedback will be extremely valuable as we continue to assess our strengths and weakness as an organization.

Why should you participate?
The feedback gathered through the survey will allow us to understand your perceptions (and frustrations). The information we receive from the survey will help us focus our efforts. While there will be other opportunities to provide input on your experience working in the Student Affairs organization, your participation at this time would be extremely beneficial to our improvement process.

Who makes up the Leadership Team? We have many leaders within the Division of Student Affairs. When we reference the "Leadership Team" in the survey, we are referring to the following group of individuals:
  • Dr. Gene Fitch, Jr. VPSA
  • Matt Grief, Associate Vice President, Housing Operations and Residential Life
  • Dr. Amanda Smith, Associate Vice President & Dean of Students
  • Cristen Casey, Assistant Vice President
  • Bill Petitt, Athletic Director
  • Josh Hammers, Director of Assessment
  • Carla Garner, Director, Programs for Minors
  • Elizabeth Ramirez, Sr. Director Finance & Administration
  • Jenni Huffenberger, Sr. Director, Marketing & Communications
Are your answers confidential? Yes! Your answers will be kept confidential and will not be identified by individual in any way.  Confidentiality is the reason why a third party is administering this survey.  Nobody within the division will see the raw results.

How do you complete the survey? Answer as honestly as you can. There are not right or wrong answers.  Using the scale below, place the number in the space provided next to each statement that best represents how you feel. Try to think of your recent experiences – not something that happened months ago – so we can get an accurate representation of the current state of the organization.

Example:
  • Strongly disagree This is far from my experience. More likely to experience the opposite.
  • Disagree I do not normally experience this.
  • Tend to disagree Not really. I occasionally experience this, but not very often.
  • Tend to agree Not characteristic, but this is what I experience more often than not.
  • Agree Yes, this is what I typically experience.
  • Strongly agree Absolutely characteristic of what I experience. This describes what I experience accurately.
  • Not rated I have insufficient evidence on which to base a reliable rating. I am not going to guess.

What if I am not sure?

Use the response Not Rated when:
  1. You have no opinion or can’t answer due to lack of information, or
  2. You don’t feel the question applies to you.
Thank you for participating in the survey and providing feedback to the Division of Student Affairs leadership.
